Need a sponsor – help us, help you!
NorCal teams,
Mark, using the FIRST TIMS system, sent every NorCal FLL team a very short, quick survey link to fill out a few weeks ago. The survey itself takes just a few minutes to fill out but does require a quick question out to those working with the team as to what company that they work for. However, we have had very few teams fill it out – like less than 10%! In case it was not obvious, FIRST Development and Playing At Learning are working together to make it beneficial for you to tell us which companies that your coaches/mentors work at…
Last weekend, for example, Jim Beck, the FIRST Senior Regional Director, received permission to publicly announce for those at CalGames (FRC Off-season event last weekend), that Apple will provide sponsorship money for every FIRST team that has a team manager, coach or mentor or similar team volunteer significantly working with the team. The Apple sponsorship works for every program of FIRST as well – JrFLL, FLL, FTC and FRC. Apple has local sites in Cupertino, Newark, and Elk Grove. It is a benefit for Playing At Learning, as we get money each time that a team competes in our region – talk about a win-win!
There is also another company that we are working with specifically for FLL and FTC that has offered similar additional sponsorship dollars for teams starting in January that have their employees volunteering in a significant way (such as team manager, coach or mentor). The way that this generally works is that the companies want us to “vet” the teams and provide them the information in a consolidated way. The best way that we can do this quickly is for you to tell us through a survey that we can do a simple lookup/query. I would like to believe that there will be a couple more companies doing similar things for this season.
So, for the 4 FIRST teams that filled out our survey that have Apple employees working with them – you will likely be eligible for dollars and Mark or I will contact you separately in the next week.
If you didn’t get the survey or filled it out incorrectly, the survey is still “live” until ~Oct 15th at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/norcalfirst_outreach

Jill
