Serving your team and neighbors…
When we started the very first team from Fremont in FIRST LEGO League as coaches back in 2002, the qualifier that we had to compete in was in Richmond. By our second year as coaches, we had encouraged/supported 18 teams in our local area of Fremont! So, we stepped forward to offer to run a local qualifier to serve our teams….
Fast forward to today (September 2016), there are right now, 10 or more teams in a slew of more cities such as Fremont, Palo Alto and Sunnyvale. Why am I calling these cities out – there are ZERO qualifiers in those cities at all.
As just one contrasting example, in Elk Grove, there are 3, 16 team qualifiers – but only 4 registered teams.
We are interested in trying to help people organize tournaments to support their local teams… but need to know what are the hurdles/issues. What are your thoughts?
