Hello everyone,
My name is Devin Jackson. I am a 6th grade Science and Engineering Teacher at Foothill Middle School in Walnut Creek, CA. I am the Head Coach of three FIRST LEGO League teams. The teams are 5983: Mechanical Masters – Rookie year 2014; 20975: Mechanical Masters Robotics – Rookie year 2015; and 21610: Mechanical Masters Robo Stars – Rookie year 2015.
Currently, I am dealing with a registration issue. When I began registering my three teams for the Capital District Qualifying Tournament in November, I tried to register all three teams for the same Qualifying Tournament on 11/22 at Prospect Sierra School in El Cerrito. Unfortunately, due to the maximum limit for the total number of teams at Prospect Sierra School being capped at 16 teams, I was only able to register two of my teams, 5983 and 20975 for the tournament at Prospect Sierra School. Luckily, I was able to register my third team, 21610 for the Qualifying Tournament on 11/15 at Grange Middle School in Fairfield.
My question and possible request is would any team be at all interested in participating in a team swap for the Qualifying Tournaments. If you are willing and agree to participate in a team swap, my team 21610 would take your team’s place in the 11/22 Prospect Sierra School Qualifying Tournament and your team would take our original place in the 11/15 Qualifying Tournament at Grange Middle School in Fairfield. I know that this request is a lot to ask and I am only making this request because it would totally benefit the team members, participants, parents, and coaches if the three teams could all be together on 11/22 at Prospect Sierra School. If you decide to make this swap, my students and I would be much appreciative of your honorable and gracious gesture. You would be making 30 middle school robotic students very happy. Thank you very much.
In addition to the request for a team swap, I am also interested in setting up a scrimmage within the next two or three weeks in order to get my three teams ready for the Qualifying Tournaments. Would any team be willing to participate in a scrimmage event, at Foothill Middle School in Walnut Creek, 2775 Cedro Ln, Walnut Creek, CA 94598, either after school or on the weekend?
Here is my contact information if you would like to discuss information regarding the team swap for the Qualifying Tournaments or a scrimmage event at Foothill Middle School.
