SUMMARY:BCM FLL Scrimmage
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nUpdate 10/24: There is space for only 1 more team. A
nd we need the team to bring their table\, mat and mission model to the sc
rimmage\n\n--------------------\n\nBCM Robotics is now accepting applicat
ions for the FLL Scrimmage on Saturday\, Oct 26. The Scrimmage will
 run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bayshore Christian Ministries\,1001
Beech St\, East Palo Alto\, CA (different location than last year).\n\nThe
scrimmage is a practice opportunity for the qualifying tournaments in Nov
ember.  We will be conducting matches under tournament conditions - match
es will run for 2 1/2 minutes and will be scored by referees according to
FLL rules.  We'll have pit tables set up for the scrimmage\, and we will
have limited practice FLL fields available for testing your robot between
official matches. You'll have the chance to run your robot on different fi
elds and to see how other teams approach the missions.  Don't worry if yo
u can only attempt a couple missions or your missions don't work.  Lots o
f teams will be like that\, and your robot’s scrimmage scores do not cou
nt towards the awards given at the November tournament.  Also\, there is
no judging of robot design\, the research project\, or core values at the
scrimmage. Teams are queued for scrimmage matches based on a first-come fi
rst-served basis.  We'll keep a running list of teams that want to run a
competition match.  We take the first two teams from the list\, have them
compete in a match\, and then continue through the list. After a team com
pletes a match\, the team can sign up for another match.  We expect to ha
ve enough time for teams to run at least 7-8 matches.\n\nTo apply for a sl
ot\, please fill out the 2019 Scrimmage Registration Form by October
 14.  It has additional information about participating in the scrimmage
including volunteer requirements.\n\nOur capacity is limited to 10 teams
right now. If more teams apply\, then BCM Robotics will choose teams with
a preference for teams  from East Palo Alto area with an additional pre
ference for rookie teams.  We also may open additional slots.  Teams wit
h fewer than four members may not be accepted or may be asked to share a s
pot with another small team as we want to give the scrimmage experience to
more kids.  All teams must provide volunteers or challenge tables and f
ield sets in order to participate.  We will let teams know by October 15
if they have a spot at the scrimmage.  We will also have a waiting list
in case selected teams decide not to participate.\n\nThere will be a $30 r
egistration fee for the scrimmage\, to cover expenses of running the BCM R
obotics organization and events. Payments are due October 22.  Please mak
e the check payable to 'BCM Robotics' with ‘scrimmage payment' in the me
mo section and mail your $30 registration fee to BCM\, c/o Waniya Bryant\
, 1001 Beech St\, East Palo Alto\, CA 94303.\nBCM Robotics will post addi
tional information to the TigerBots mailing list as we get closer to Oc
 tober 26.\n\nRegards\,\nRajesh\nBCM Robotics Coach\n&nbsp\;
